The primary\r\ntargets for the well were Paleocene Sands and Danian Limestones; the secondary\r\ntargets were Late Cretaceous carbonates, Early Cretaceous sandstones, Jurassic\r\nsandstones, and possibly Permo-Triassic sandstone reservoirs.\u003c/span\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoBodyText\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003cspan lang=EN-GB\u003eOperations and results\u003c/span\u003e\u003c/b\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoBodyText\u003e\u003cspan lang=EN-GB\u003eWell 2/7-2 was spudded with the\r\nsemi-submersible installation Ocean Viking on 13 December 1970 and drilled to\r\nTD at 3964 m in the Early Permian Rotliegend Group. No significant technical\r\nproblem was encountered in the operations \u003c/span\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoBodyText\u003e\u003cspan lang=EN-GB\u003eThe well was drilled with sea water and\r\nviscous slugs down to 594 m and with sea water, lignosulphonate, and 2 - 7 %\r\noil from 594 m to TD. \u003c/span\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoBodyText\u003e\u003cspan lang=EN-GB\u003eThe well encountered the Late Paleocene\r\nBalder Formation at 2856 m, top Ekofisk Formation at 2966 m, and top Tor\r\nFormation at 3005 m. The Jurassic was encountered at 3862 m and consisted of 13\r\nm Mandal Formation. Total organic carbon content in the Mandal Formation was 7-9\r\n%, estimated to be of middle oil window maturity (vitrinite reflectance ca\r\n0.75). The Mandal Formation rested directly on sandstones of the Rotliegend\r\nGroup. Good oil shows decreasing to no shows were observed on cores 1 and 2 (3013.9\r\nto 3027.9 m) in the Tor Formation. Otherwise no significant shows or other\r\nhydrocarbon indications were reported from the well.\u003c/span\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoBodyText\u003e\u003cspan lang=EN-GB\u003eThree cores wore cut with 100% recovery. Cores\r\n1 and 2 were cut from 3013.9 to 3027.9 m, while core 3 was cut in basaltic rock\r\nat TD from 3955.1 to 3963.6 m.
