The purpose of the well\r\nwas to test the hydrocarbon and reservoir potential of Triassic to basal\r\nTertiary sediments over a north-south elongated salt dome. The Jurassic -\r\nTriassic sandstones were the primary objective, with the Late Cretaceous -\r\nDanian carbonates and Palaeocene sandstones as secondary objectives.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eThe well is Type Well for the Late\r\nPaleocene Fiskebank Formation\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003eOperations and results\u003c/b\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eWildcat well 9/11-1 was spudded with the\r\nsemi-submersible installation Transworld 61 on 3 July 1971 and drilled to TD at\r\n2196 m in the Late Triassic Skagerrak Formation. The 26&quot; section was first\r\ndrilled with a 17 1/2&quot; bit to 412 m using gel/seawater mud. The hole was\r\nthen under-reamed to 26&quot; to 411 m. The 26&quot; bit was run in hole but\r\ncould not get past 119 m. When reaming was attempted, circulation was lost at\r\n127 m. The hole was then re-drilled to 412 m with a 17 1/2&quot; bit and opened\r\nto 26&quot; with no problems. The 20&quot; casing was run and cemented at 378\r\nm. Eleven days were used on this interval and 700 bbl mud lost to seabed. The\r\nremaining well was drilled without significant problems. The well was drilled\r\nwith seawater and hi-vis pills to 127 m, with seawater and gel from 127 m to\r\n412 m, and with seawater / lignosulphonate (Spersene) and 1 -6 % diesel from\r\n412 m to TD. \u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eThe well drilled a thick\r\nTertiary-Quaternary section (approx. 1600 m), composed mainly of\r\nOligocene-Miocene brown-grey clays and Pliocene-Pleistocene grey sandy clays.\r\nThe Eocene (Lower part) is represented by green clays overlying varicoloured\r\nPaleocene clays without sands. There was a thin chalk, all of Late Cretaceous\r\nage (Tor Formation). No Danian was present.
