The primary objective of the well was to test Late Jurassic\r\nsandstone within a fault sealed dip closure, against the downthrown side of a\r\nwesterly heading fault complex at the base of the Cretaceous. Triassic\r\nsandstone was a secondary objective.\u003c/span\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoBodyText\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003cspan lang=EN-GB\u003eOperations and results\u003c/span\u003e\u003c/b\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoBodyText\u003e\u003cspan lang=EN-GB\u003eWildcat well 2/1-3 was spudded with the\r\nsemi-submersible installation SEDCO H on 3 November 1979 and drilled to TD at\r\n4297 in the Late Permian Zechstein Group. The well was drilled with Seawater\r\ndown to 625 m and with Lignosulphonate mud from 625 m to TD.\u003c/span\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoBodyText\u003e\u003cspan lang=EN-GB\u003eTop of the Tyne Group, Mandal Formation,\r\nwas encountered at 3791 m, with the Late Jurassic sandstone at 3819.5 m. The\r\nLate Jurassic sandstone reservoir was oil-bearing all through. The reservoir is\r\na 59.5 m thick homogeneous fine to medium grained sandstone with a porosity\r\nfrom 15% to 22%. The sandstone grades into a well cemented argillaceous\r\nsiltstone below. No oil/water contact was established.
