The\r\nprimary objective of well 2/11-3 was the Late Cretaceous chalk section on the\r\nwestern flank of the East Lobe of the Hod structure. The West Lobe was found to\r\nbe oil bearing by 2/11-2 in 1974. Seismic indicated an expansion of the chalk\r\nsection compared to 2/11-2 and that the graben feature found on Valhall\r\nextended south-eastward over the East Hod and therefore the possibility for the\r\nhigh reservoir quality Maestrichtian rock to be present in this area.\u003c/span\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoBodyText\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003cspan lang=EN-GB\u003eOperations and results\u003c/span\u003e\u003c/b\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoBodyText\u003e\u003cspan lang=EN-GB\u003eWell 2/11-3 was spudded with the jacket 4\r\nlegs installation Dyvi Beta on 10 October 1977 and drilled to TD at 3052 m in\r\nthe Early Cretaceous Rødby Formation. The well was drilled in a total of 47\r\ndays without any major drilling problems. However, 3 days were spent waiting\r\nfor the correct Cameron BOP Adaptor Spool.\u003c/span\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoBodyText\u003e\u003cspan lang=EN-GB\u003eWell 2/11-3 proved the Hod complex to\r\nconsist of two individual structures. A domal West Hod structure has a\r\nseismically defined closure area of 7.5 square km. East Hod, where 2/11-3 was\r\nlocated, is a northwest-southeast trending anticline covering approximately 6\r\nsquare km. \u003c/span\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoBodyText\u003e\u003cspan lang=EN-GB\u003eThe well penetrated a normal sequence of\r\nQuarternary-Tertiary section from the surface to the top of the Late Cretaceous\r\nat 2774.5 m. This interval typically consists of predominantly clay and shale\r\nwith thin stringers of limestone and dolomite scattered throughout. The basal\r\nTertiary unit is marked by the occurrence of the Paleocene Ash marker that\r\ndisplays the characteristic metallic blue grey-violet colour of the volcanic\r\ntuff.
