The main target was sand channels in the Paleocene Balder\r\nFormation. Early Eocene and Danian sands were considered as secondary targets.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003eOperations and results\u003c/b\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eExploration well 25/2-3 was spudded with\r\nthe semi-submersible installation Deepsea Driller on 1 September 1974 and\r\ndrilled to TD at 2795 m in the Late Cretaceous Shetland Group. \u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eEocene sands (Frigg Formation) were\r\nencountered at 2073 m, 27 m deeper than expected. The top of the tuff (Balder\r\nFormation) was encountered at 2211 m, 85 m deeper than expected. Both the\r\nHermod (153 m thick) and the Ty (144 m) Formations were well developed in the\r\nwell. The top of the chalk (Shetland Group) was encountered at 2726 m. All the\r\nsandstone sequences encountered in the well were water bearing. No shows were\r\nreported from the well.
