The well location is due west\r\nof the Oseberg Field and ca 2.5 km from the UK Border. The main objective of\r\nthe well was to test Middle and Early Jurassic sandstones (Brent Group and\r\nStatfjord Formation) Secondary objectives were possible lower Cretaceous\r\ncarbonate development, and possible Late Jurassic sandstones.\u003c/span\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoBodyText\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003cspan lang=EN-GB\u003eOperations and results\u003c/span\u003e\u003c/b\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoBodyText\u003e\u003cspan lang=EN-GB\u003eWell 30/7-4 was spudded with the\r\nsemi-submersible installation Polyglomar Drilling on 25 January 1977. A 17\r\n1/2&quot; pilot hole was drilled to 192 m. The operation had to be suspended\r\nfor two days due to bad weather. When the operation was continued, the 17\r\n1/2&quot; pilot hole could not be found and a new 36&quot; hole was drilled. The\r\n30&quot; casing was set and cemented at 193 m. The weather conditions made it\r\nnecessary to set piggy backs on five anchors. A 17 1/2&quot; hole was drilled\r\nto 778 m in assumed Miocene sediments. This was the planned setting depth for\r\nthe 20&quot; casing. While reaming out the 17 1/2&quot; hole to 26&quot; prior\r\nto running 20&quot; casing, the drill string parted. An overshot was worked\r\nover the fish but attempts to pull the fish were unsuccessful.
