The primary objective of the well was\r\nto test Palaeozoic carbonates and elastics in a partly fault-bounded/truncated\r\ndip closure on the western flank of the Loppa High. Potential Early Triassic\r\nsandstones in a low relief dip closure were a secondary objective.\u003c/span\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoBodyText\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003cspan lang=EN-GB\u003eOperations\u003c/span\u003e\u003c/b\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoBodyText\u003e\u003cspan lang=EN-GB\u003eWell 7120/1-1 was spudded on 16 August\r\nwith the semi-submersible installation &quot;Borgny Dolphin&quot; and drilled\r\nto 2569 m where it was suspended on 15 November due to NPD drilling regulations\r\nduring winter season. On 2 December permission was granted to continue\r\noperations and drilling continued to 2610 m. On 26 December the well was again\r\nsuspended at the request of the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate because of\r\nsafety considerations in adverse weather conditions. The well was re-entered on\r\n13 March 1986 and drilled to a TD of 4003 m in basement rocks. The well was\r\ndrilled with seawater and bentonite hi-vis pills down to 485 m. From there to TD\r\ngypsum/polymer mud was used with various &quot;Lost Circulation Material&quot;\r\npills to cure mud losses. \u003c/span\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoBodyText\u003e\u003cspan lang=EN-GB\u003eThe well encountered weak hydrocarbon\r\nshows from 800 m down to 2200 m\u00A0 and oil shows in Late Permian carbonates\r\n(Tempelfjorden Group, Ørret Formation).\u00A0 No intervals of significant reservoir\r\npotential were recognized from logs or described from cuttings in the Tertiary\r\nor Triassic sections. Below this sequence, three main Permian carbonate units\r\nwere identified from logs and cuttings description. A porosity range of 5-10%\r\nfor the limestone sequence between 2415 and 2461 m has been derived from log\r\nevaluation.
