The objective was to test a combined\r\nstructural/stratigraphic play first identified on seismic data as a\r\nhigh-amplitude anomaly within the Late Cretaceous (Maastrichtian) Tor\r\nFormation. The primary target for the 2/7-30 well was the upper Tor Formation\r\nas defined through seismic inversion modelling of the anomaly. The Paleocene\r\n(Danian) Ekofisk Formation was regarded as a secondary target, with two\r\npossible productive intervals, an upper zone of reworked Danian chalk and a\r\nlower zone dominated by reworked Maastrichtian deposits.\u003c/span\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoBodyText\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003cspan lang=EN-GB\u003eOperations and results\u003c/span\u003e\u003c/b\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoBodyText\u003e\u003cspan lang=EN-GB\u003eWildcat well 2/7-30 was spudded with the jack-up\r\ninstallation Maersk Guardian on 27 February 1995 and drilled to TD at 3478 m in\r\nthe Late Cretaceous Hod Formation. No significant problem was encountered in\r\nthe operations. Coring in the well was performed with a &quot;Security/DBS\r\ncoring system&quot; where the inner barrel is oil filled. Apparently the base\r\noil in this system have contaminated some of the organic geochemical data from\r\nthe cores from the well. The well was drilled with seawater and\r\nbentonite/native clay down to 469 m and with a KCl/Pac/Glycol mud from 469 m to\r\nTD.\u003c/span\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoBodyText\u003e\u003cspan lang=EN-GB\u003eThe top Ekofisk Formation was encountered\r\nat 3150.1 m wire line depth, which was 17.4 m higher than prognosed. Both the\r\nupper and lower allochthonous intervals in Ekofisk Formation proved water wet,\r\ndespite some fair shows observed during drilling/coring.
