The objective was to establish the presence, quality and fluid content of Jurassic\r\ntarget horizons (Fensfjord, Krossfjord, Sognefjord Formations and Brent/Dunlin\r\nGroups). The overlying Cretaceous sand of Late Cenomanian/Early Turonian age\r\n(k68) provided a secondary target. \u003c/span\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003eOperations and results\u003c/b\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eWildcat well 36/4-1 was spudded with the\r\nsemi-submersible installation Mærsk Jutlander on 3 September 1996 and drilled\r\nto TD in basement rock. Minor delays in the operations were caused by ROV\r\nproblems during spud and top hole drilling, and BOP problems while setting the\r\n13 3/8&quot; casing at 1108 m. The well was drilled with sea water and gel down\r\nto 1108 m and with KCl/Polymer/GEM (Glycol Enhanced Mud) from 1108 m to TD.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eThe Jurassic was encountered at 2361 m\r\nand consisted of 351 m of Heather Formation overlying Basement rock. No primary\r\nreservoir was penetrated only low porosity thin sands were encountered with no\r\nshows. Wire line logging and sampling confirmed absence of Jurassic reservoir\r\nin the 36/4-1 prospect. The secondary target was penetrated 38 m high to\r\nprognosis and contained 77 m of sand. This sand showed no indications of\r\nhydrocarbons and was at hydrostatic pressure. Dull hydrocarbon shows were\r\nobserved in sandstone stringers in the interval 1920-1990 m within the\r\nCretaceous Kyrre Formation. No shows were encountered in the remaining part of the\r\nwell. The failure of the primary target was attributed to lack of reservoir\r\nwithin the prospect. The secondary target probably failed due to lack of trap.\r\nHydrostatic pressure within this sand indicated connection up-dip to the shelf\r\nand hence no up-dip seal.
