Description: All blocks on the Norwegian continental shelf. A block name contains the quadrant and the block, e.g. 2/4, 6402/12. The quadrants have numbers from 1-36 south of latitude 62 (North Sea), whereas north of latitude 62 the quadrants are indicated with four-digit numbers based on latitude and longitude in the southwest corner (e.g. 6402). A quadrant is 1x1 degree, a block is 15X20 minutes.

Description: Division of the Norwegian continental shelf into area names (sub area). Used in FactMaps. These names are used in connection with the opening of these areas for petroleum activity.
Description: This table provides an overview of areas that have been opened and where restrictions have been set, e.g. in connection with management plans. Contains geographical outlines of the current area.
Description: Geological structural elements. Main structural elements on the Norwegian continental shelf and adjacent areas. The data are compiled by the Norwegian Offshore Directorate and are based on the officially approved element names. Note that some of the names used in this dataset have not yet been approved by the Norwegian Stratigraphic Committee. This is especially true for the North Sea.
Description: Geological "domes" from 1997.

Description: Production licences on the Norwegian continental shelf, including ordinary awards and awards in pre-defined areas (APA). A production licence gives one company or a group of companies the right to explore for and produce oil and gas in a specific area for a given period. The area can be horizontal. In the case of a group of companies, one of these is the operator.
Description: Historical area of production licences per block. For this polygon, it is indicated in text whether there are vertical restrictions that have been granted for the production licence. See also table [licence_area_hst].
Description: Used in connection with APA (Awards in Predefined Areas) to find the areas that are available before announcement. This table contains the areas of the current gross area. Acreage inside this gross area can be allocated unless it has already been allocated or is blocked for other reasons. Blocked areas are 1) what is in [licensing_activity_apa_subtract] and what has been returned less than 90 days before the application deadline.

Description: AFEX = AreaFeeEXemptions. This table contains all tax-free areas (areas where the licensees do not have to pay area fees). Area fee is a fee paid yearly in relation to large areas seized by the production licence. The table is a parent table for AFEX and it has many child tables, e.g. [afex_area_licence_hst]. The area in question is part of afex_area.
Description: Contains all areas for the AFEX areas. This area can be made up of one or more polygons. Each polygon is a row in this table. The table contains historical polygons, including polygons that are no longer valid. The points themselves can be found in sub-table [afex_area_area_poly_pnt_hst]. Child table of [afex_area].
Description: A business arrangement area (BAA) is an area which is a result of unitisation of production licences or other business arrangements which have changed the terms of the original production licence. A BAA has a commercial activity associated with it. An example is a unit where a discovery goes beyond a production licence and possibly across national borders – e.g. STATFJORD UNIT. BSN is short for Business Arrangement Area.
Description: Historical record of all the polygons in a given business arrangement area. A polygon is defined within a production licence and a block. Child table of [bsns_arr_area].
Description: Main table for geophysical surveys reported by licensees on the Norwegian continental shelf. Populated by the "Notification system for geophysical surveys" (Meldesystem in Norwegian). "survey_type_main" indicates which type of survey this is: "Ordinary seismic survey", "Subsurface survey", "Electromagnetic survey", "Seabed seismic survey", "Site survey". Categories are specified in Norwegian only. The geographical extent is indicated in the "shape" column, while the actual data from geophysical
Description: Includes a shape column with geography. Net and gross ranges provided and specified through the attribute "net_or_gross". Child table of [seis_acquisition].
Description: The table includes subordinate areas for performed surveys, including metadata with regards to seabed minerals. Linked to sbm_survey_area, which shows the overall areas.
Description: Table includes overall areas for performed surveys including metadata with regards to seabed minerals. Sbm_survey_sub_area shows subareas to surveys in this table.
Description: Main table for wellbores. A well consists of one or several wellbores. Contains exploration, development and other wellbores related to petroleum and CO2 capture. The Norwegian Offshore Directorate approves the wellbore names based on an application from the operator. Separate guidelines have been drawn up for how to name wellbores — "NPD guidelines for designation of wells and wellbores", available on the Norwegian Offshore Directorate's website.
Description: Overview of fixed (FIXED) and mobile (MOVEABLE) facilities and vessels approved for work on the Norwegian continental shelf. Facilities thus mean drilling rigs, fixed platforms, accommodation platforms, vessels etc. In this table, a few main attributes are specified. For fixed facilities, geographical points for facility locations are provided. This is a parent table with one or more subtables, e.g. [facility_function].
Description: Pipelines on the Norwegian Continental Shelf with low-resolution versions of pipeline routes. Owners are derived from TUF or field through "belongs_to" and "belongs_to_kind". Pipelines are provided in low-resolution versions for reasons including security considerations. For similar reasons, the pipelines have been "cut" 500 metres from facilities.
Description: Discoveries on the Norwegian continental shelf. A discovery is a petroleum deposit (or several petroleum deposits combined) that has been discovered in the same wellbore, and which through testing, sampling or logging has been substantiated to have mobile petroleum. The table includes both commercial and technical discoveries. The parent table is linked to its child tables using the NPDID for the discovery. There is a geographical outline for the relevant field, which is the sum of the outlines
Description: Fields on the Norwegian continental shelf where oil and/or gas is being or will be produced. A field may consist of one or more discoveries that the licensee has decided to develop. The field has been approved through a plan for development and operation (PDO, acronym PUD in Norwegian), or the field has been granted a PDO/PUD exemption. The parent table is linked to its child tables using the NPDID for the field. There is a geographical outline for the field, which is the sum of the outlines of
